Dear Fellow Memon Brothers and Sisters,

01 April 2021

Blessed greetings for the forthcoming holy month of Ramadan to you and your families.

We take this opportunity to give you an account of noble work being done by the World Memon Organisation (“WMO”) for the welfare and well-being of the Memon community and humanity generally throughout the world.

The main objective of the WMO is to eradicate poverty and illiteracy in the Memon community. It is a platform for Memons‟ worldwide to serve humanity through their inherent nature, culture and philanthropic tradition. Today the world over, we are proud to witness the great work carried out by our forefathers in establishing Masajids, Educational Institutions, Hospitals, Orphanages and Community Centres.

You will be pleased to note that during the short period of its existence, the WMO has spent more than US$60 million [Sixty Million US Dollars] for educational, rehabilitation and relief projects mainly in Pakistan, India, Africa and Sri Lanka, which is where the need is greatest. WMO with the help of all nine chapters are working on the following projects:

  • Education for All Scheme
  • Higher Education Scheme
  • Gift of Sight Project
  • Rehabilitation Project
  • Rozgar Scheme
  • Ramadan Ration Projects
  • Projects for Special Children

It is our collective responsibility through WMO to ensure that these deprived members of the community can stand on their own feet, live with dignity and supported from being recipients to donors of Zakat.

Let us be reminded of the various Quranic verses and Hadith of our beloved Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) that priority for Zakat should be given to one’s family, relatives and community. In this case the reward is doubled.

Zakat is an obligation for all of us and it should be given every year, preferably in the Holy Month of Ramadan. The WMO is a “Ray of Hope‟ for many of needy and deserving Memon families worldwide, for which we would humbly request you to join hands and dispense your Zakat to the WMO, for Allah’s blessings. Your Zakat will give hope to the less fortunate members of our community.

Please visit the following links to know more about the projects of the WMO, to see how we are spending your Zakat and how it is helping the community at large.
