UPDATE: LifeBox Collection for Pakistan Flood and other ways of donating

Further to the earlier post : Drop off vital supplies to Memon Centre to send to Flood Victims in Pakistan free via PIA, alhamdulillah Lifeboxes have started coming in to the Memon Centre.

However, for those of you not quite sure how to go about it, here are 2 videos (one in Urdu and one in English) explaining how to pack the boxes.

For those people who can't get hold of the right size boxes, we are inshaAllah arranging about 500 empty boxes so you can just bring the items and we can pack them for you at the centre. (For this inshaAllah we need a couple of donors to cover the £250 cost of the boxes, if you can donate towards this please contact Akeel Zicar on 07974 966 573),

Secondly if you wish to donate money towards the Flood Appeal instead of Lifeboxes please read the email from community member ...

Drop off vital supplies to Memon Centre to send to Flood Victims in Pakistan free via PIA

The magnitude of the recent flood crisis in Pakistan has no doubt shocked us all.

As you might be aware, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) are transporting relief supplies free of charge as detailed here: http://www.piac.com.pk/Flood_Relief/index.htm

Memon Centre has volunteered its premises as a drop-off point for relief supplies donated by Leicester residents.

So here's a chance for us to make a difference to those affected as follows:

1. Pack a box measuring 15" x 15" x 12" of relief supplies as per the guidelines at :

http://www.piac.com.pk/Flood_Relief/contents.htm

2. Drop it off to the Memon Centre at 7 Abbotsford Road, off Uppingham Road, Leicester between 12pm-4pm any weekday (or at Tarawih time ie 10pm - 1130pm).

3. Once we have a vanful of boxes collected, we will drop them in bulk to the PIA Cargo drop off point at Heathrow or Birmingham. The contact at Heathrow airport is Mr Tariq Khan, Tel: 0208 759 5580 / lhrfapk@piac.aero

Donate your Old Clothes to Memon Humanity Help for Widows & their families in Hyderabad

An appeal by Memon Humanity Help*

Ramadan will be here soon inshaAllah, the month of fasting & charity!

Donate your old clothes and shoes to generate funds to support 50 Memon widowed families in Hyderabad, India.

We have 2 plans to support these vulnerable families:

1- Give them 6 months supply of food:

by pre-arranging with and paying the food-suppliers / millers.

2- Create and fund a mini-hospital:

give ID cards to these 50 families so they can get free treatment at this hospital.

We need your unwanted clothing and shoes to generate funds for the above projects - our target is to collect 10 tonnes a month
